How I Became a Morning Person | Three Easy Ways You Can Too

Let me tell you, I used to be c-r-a-b-b-y in the mornings. I completely understand, now as an adult, why my mom insisted on finishing her cup of coffee before engaging in anything else. Mom, I get it now!

It's taken a lot of work but I think I have mastered the art of being a morning person. I literally have to bribe myself to do so and I am absolutely comfortable sharing that with you.

1. My morning coffee

If I do not have my coffee in the mornings, it's like part of me reverts back into that Crabby Patty I once was. Once I let the dog out and feed her, it's time to focus on me and that means a hot cup of coffee. I'll share with you my favorite ways to make coffee in a future post if you'd like. For now, my advice to you is find a drink you love and {usually} only drink in the AM. Whether that is coffee, tea, hot lemon water, whatever, having that morning treat has helped me greatly as it's something I look forward to daily.

2. My morning reading

I personally read devotionals and/or non-fiction self-help books in the morning. I like to start my day off on a positive note and this does that for me. Right now I am reading Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen and I am loving how it sets the tone for my day. I encourage you to find an activity that brings you peace and positivity first thing in the morning. Some people enjoy meditation or prayer or reading or going for a walk or playing with a pet; whatever that positive {non-social media/electronics centered} activity is for you, do it.

3. My morning skincare routine

Who doesn't love a little pampering? Well, I do but I used to only think pampering was a night-time treat. Oh, no no no. I have ditched the splash-and-go method of my morning for a real routine. I still like to splash my face with cold water but then I add in a facial peel, moisturizer and sunscreen. If I am really feeling sleepy, I will pop on an eye mask - which, when kept cold in the fridge - immediately shocks my face into perking up.

Now, I love the mornings! Quiet time just for me and my thoughts. I hope the above three tips are helpful to you in your journey to being a morning person. If you're already there, what would you say your top tips are for others? Let me know and I will share them on my Instagram with our community!
